More and more engineers are starting to push the "Java envelope". Having the ability to work with cel strip animation and even rudimentary compression will make Java the preferred developemt environment for delivering content over the net. Additionally when ISDN presence increases, Java, as a cross platform solution, will totally change the way software is built, marketed and distributed today.
